Auto Insurance

Auto insurance is easy to find, but it is difficult to locate insurance that is both cheap and effective.  Don’t be overwhelmed, though; we’ve done some research and decided on a few of the best car insurers to tell you about.  Often, you can find great car insurance from a good life insurance company (or vice versa).  Keep in mind that your premiums will vary and probably raise over the next several years.  Across the United States, insurance costs have been rising sharply over the past decade – sometimes by about 10 percent per year.

Where can you find the best car insurance?  First, look at GEICO.  Its funny commercials have made GEICO a household name, but what has made it the fifth-largest auto insurer in the U.S. is its good customer service and persistent efforts to improve its rates and coverage levels.  GEICO offers many discounts for good driving records, multiple policy accounts and other reasons.

Another excellent car coverage company is Amica, which has received top honors from J.D. Power and Associates for insurance customer satisfaction over the past five years.  Like GEICO, Amica is a large insurance company that covers hundreds of thousands of car drivers.  You can look at Amica’s website for free, get a free quote and see if you would save money over what GEICO would offer you.

A third good car insurance company is American Family Insurance.  AFI can adjust your rates and process your car insurance claims quickly.  Ask AFI for a quote and compare that with quotes from Amica and GEICO.

Make sure that as you shop around, you find out exactly what is and what is not covered by a prospective auto policy.  The insurer should promise not to raise your rates unless it notifies you well in advance.  You should find out its rating with the Better Business Bureau and with A.M. Best or Standard or Poor’s (insurance ratings bureaus).
